"Look at how much this area has improved with our 3 Labour councillors over the last 2 years..."
|
Our DMBC Councillors work has been tireless and dedicated toward the community and all involved in it. They give great support to local groups and guidance. They give instant action in any event including in response to the water crisis, which saw our Councillor out there straight away distributing, organising and coordinating the emergency water supplies. We need to sit back and look at how much this area has improved with our three Labour councillors over the last 2 years.
Lets keep up the momentum and see what they can do for our community over the next 4 years. Lets re-elect these hard-working labour councillors. - Linda, Local Resident in Thorne |
"Their participation and hands on involvement is to be commended and reflects their profound love for our community..."
|
Having attended most local events over the past 2 years, I have witnessed the Labour DMBC councillors to be not only present at these events but also actively involved. Their participation and hands on involvement is to be commended and reflects their profound love for our community. In my opinion the positive changes taking place and those already completed are the direct result of their hard work and diligent commitment to improve the community. Thankfully once again our community is fast becoming a place we can all be proud of. We are starting to enjoy the convenience of facilities, which were once only accessible out of area.
At last here is hope, we are able to see an end to the era of derelict buildings and eye sores the likes of which have blighted the appearance of our community for so long. A heartwarming hive of activity indicates work and change in progress, this tells me that we have had an excellent team, who have proven that by working together representing our community they are able to achieve for us what we have been hoping for, for so long. Susan, Joe and Mark are conscientious and extremely professional to a high degree, however this does not deflect from their friendly approachable dispositions and excellent interaction skils with individuals from all walks of life. I have found through past experience that nothing is too much trouble; they have exuberant energy, apparent in their zest to work for both the community and individuals. I wish them good luck in their quest for re-election and sincerely hope they achieve the much deserved opportunity to continue serving for the better of the community . - Edith, Local Resident in Thorne |
"There has been a great improvement in the community because of their hard work..."
|
As a member of The Thorne & Moorends Colliery Monument Committee we have worked closely with Mark, Susan and Joe. They have supported us in everything we have achieved. A fantastic opening day we had for the Memory Wall brining the community together. There has been a great improvement in the community because of the hard work and the commitments of our three DMBC councillors.

"They work tirelessly to try and improve things for the community..."
|
The reason I am supporting the three Labour candidates locally, is because I have seen first hand the amount of work and effort they put in. They work tirelessly to try and improve things for the community of Thorne and Moorends and in my opinion, they are the best people to do the job.

"Susan, Mark and Joe are the right candidates..."
"They listen to the community and have their fingers on the pulse ..."
|
On may 4th I will be proud to vote Labour! I have always found Susan, Mark and Joe to be willing to listen, help and advise on any issues I have had. Their community spirit and hands-on approach has reaped many positive changes within the community, from business to leisure. They listen to the community and have their fingers on the pulse, a prime example of this being the recent community crime meetings. Long may this continue!

"I have always found these councillors to be hard working and committed to helping families and individuals with any problems..."
|
I have always found these councillors to be hard working and committed to helping families and individuals with any problems. They have assisted me with parking problems and have created a far safer environment for my family and other local residents by working on the off road parking on Miller Lane and Haynes Road. This is something I have hoped for for the past 20 years and thanks to our DMBC councillors working as a team this has become a reality. I have also received much needed help with another problem. I have found them to be non-judgemental, quick to act and always with discretion. Hardworking and conscientious, the three Labour Councillors make a good team who are proving their successful term in office can make such a big difference, I hope they can proceed unhindered to enable them to keep up the momentum and good already achieved.

"She is an ambassador for our community..."
|
"After trying, and failing, for a long time to get DMBC to make improvements to a footpath in Moorends close to my home, Susan said she would take on my concerns. She kept me updated and within a few months the work was complete. She is now addressing other concerns of residents in my area. She is helpful and she is always prepared to listen. She is an ambassador for our community and for all our local projects. Her hard work certainly deserves the support of our community and she will always get my vote."
- Graham Pinkney, Local Resident in Moorends |
"Joe is approachable and will always do all he can to help..."
|
"I have known Joe Blackham for many years. He is a man of great integrity and dignity. The help and guidance he has given to the Moorends Allotments is immeasurable and I know Joe gives the same commitment tirelessly to the whole community he serves. He is born and bred here and he knows our community well. Joe is approachable and will always do all he can to help."

"I am really impressed with the hours and dedication they put in....."
|
"Having worked with our local Labour Team over the past 4 years, we have seen positive improvements within our community. They have fully supported the Bowling Club and worked with the users of the Welfare Ground to make much needed improvements, whilst we work together to create a vision for the site. We have a good open and transparent relationship with our local Labour Team, who have worked hard with us to achieve positive change. I am really impressed with the hours and dedication they put into everything they do and I fully support their candidates in this election."

"I have witnessed first hand their passion and dedication to bring about change..."
|
"These candidates have
worked hard over the last
four years to address local
issues and they're making
good progress. I have
worked with them on the
Welfare Ground Working
Group for four years (whilst they have been on the Town Council) and have witnessed
first hand their passion and
dedication to bring about
change. They have worked with the main users of the Moorends Welfare Ground to make short term improvements whilst we create a longer term vision. They work immensely hard and they are always available to help. They have worked with the Marauders and I am proud to say we have benefitted from our local Labour Party."
- Allan Cuttell, Moorends Marauders and Local Resident |
"They are dedicated to making improvements to public facilities..."
|
"The local Labour Party has
been working hard in our
community and they are
dedicated to making
improvements to public
facilities, such as my local
allotments on Glebe Road. They go out of
their way to give back to
the community and when they're not planning
charitable functions such as the WW1 Centenary Ball, Candlelight Vigil, Christmas Lights Switch on in Thorne or the Annual Christmas Concert in Moorends, they
are attending them, in support of local good causes. I think it would be a real loss to our community if Labour were not re-elected and for that reason, the Labour Party Candidates have my full support."
- Brian Armitage, Local Resident |
"They care, they listen and they act..."
|
"These are people with their
heart in the community.
They care, they listen and
they act. They work hard on
our behalf because they
are dedicated to making a
difference for our children
and young people, the
elderly and vulnerable, and
the wider community. They're approachable and always willing to listen to your concerns. They
go the extra mile to help
and that's why I will be voting to re-elect them onto Thorne & Moorends Town Council.
- Kelly Palmer, Local Resident |
"They have taken the time to help us when needed..."
|
"Moorends Hornets & Stingers JFC have grown & developed their club over the past five years and are proud to be supported by the Thorne & Moorends Labour Party. They have taken the time to help us when needed and in doing so, helped us to secure funding in excess of £15,000. This has enabled us to develop ten FA Level One coaches and ten FA Qualified Referee’s. We have also been able to put coaches onto the UEFA Youth Award and FA Futsal Level one. We have been able to purchase new full sized goals, premier league quality team shelters and much needed ground maintenance equipment. All of this has contributed to our growth and long term sustainability. Our local Labour Councillors have supported us fully in our activities and without their support we wouldn’t be in the strong position that we are today."
- Ryan Greaves, Moorends Hornets and Stingers JFC and Local Resident |
"Labour Party Councillors have always been there to help us..."
|
"I would just like to say a big thank you on behalf of Thorne Colliery Football Club for all the help we have received over the last four years from our local Labour Party Councillors. With there help we have been able to acquire funding, which has allowed us to purchase new training equipment in addition to two new changing rooms for our kids football teams. The Labour Party Councillors have always been there to help us in anyway they can, and without there hard work and advice, our local football team would not be were we are today."
- Mark Phillips, Thorne Colliery Football Club and Local Resident |
